The New Normal

Hey Creative Writer. Long time- no see.

Let’s be honest. 2020 has majorly sucked (excuse me language) Between a global pandemic, in-fighting, political and social turmoil, stay at home orders and natural disasters it’s been a wild ride. And I’m not going to lie to you- writing hasn’t even touched my priority list. I think most of us can agree that life is different now.. Covid-19 marks a before and an after in our history. But what does the “after” look like? I haven’t the foggiest because right now we are still in the “during”.

The new normal of right now July 2020 is that Pennhighlands is open for online courses only and to students by appointment only. We are embracing technology and utilizing zoom for virtual interactions but clubs and extras are sadly missing from the landscape.

In the mist of this, writing would have helped.. With months at home before returning to work I wrote absolutely nothing. Let’s try and break that habit. If you want to get back into the habit of writing and make writing part of your new normal. Join us. We all have a compelling story to tell – tell us yours..

  1. God, do I miss writing. Still furloughed, still have all the time in the world for it, and some days I almost feel like I could, and yet. Our club broke down a lot of mental blocks that hampered my writing, and in its absence (and in the face of, well, *gestures wearily at the world*) they seem to have sprung up again. Going to spend some time reading some of our old posts and see if I can jog something loose. Thank you for the reminder. ❤

    1. I know what you mean; its such a mess and I haven’t had the motivation to do anything. I have time but no desire. I was sewing for awhile but now I don’t do anything but work eat and sleep and that needs to change lol.. you can do it but don’t force anything- it’s supposed to be fun too
